In the comic novel, The Longest Mobile Home in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the main character, Jimral Isenhour is the classic, eccentric mountain man, although rather than being like one of the Hatfields and McCoys, he doesn't have a mean bone or thought in his body, just lots and lots of bad luck. If he'd been the Wright Brothers' assistant, all airplanes would have flown only in reverse, or only upside down. His unwilling but polite and loving son, Eli, is regularly recruited by his father to be a part of his inventions and schemes, such as building the longest mobile home "in the world," or at least, in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Don't read this book if you aren't prepared to laugh. And for sure don't read this if you aren't familiar with small town, quirky people. This isn't a book for everyone because unless you have lived in surroundings like these (the back woods, hillbilly, redneck, and off the beaten path)you just won't get it. If you haven't driven by a shack or a trailer with a front yard full of rusted junk, this just won't be funny. Simple people with simple dreams is what this is all about. I really enjoyed this, it had humor and good old fashioned fun. the characters are quirky and I love this kind of book.
This book made you laugh - scratch your head and ponder the perspective of a variety of peoples, their customs and their judgements on the quality of life.
An interesting, fun book to read. It has a great cast of characters. If you are from the Appalachian you will compare the characters you have actually met, if you aren't you might be in for a culture shock!
Redneck lovers and/or Southerners will love this book. We all know somebody just like the characters.
It was a hoot and a half.
This book was hilarious...i would recomend it to anyone who is looking for a light reading easy-going comical book, the characters are likeable countery people and you will love it right up to the end....
I think that I might live in this area. Some interesting folks with different ideas live around here, but not quite is "Artistic" Mostly old cars and used up refrigerators and car seats on the front porch.
Oh my goodness -- this unusual father is always trying to improve things but seems to make matters worse no matter what he starts out to do. To my estimation the author could have ended the story much sooner. I feels it goes on longer than needed.
